Koppins celebrate golden date

ANNA — Betty and Jim Koppin will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in June with a family trip to Tennessee.

Jim and the former Betty Sweigart were married May 4, 1968, in the Sacred Heart Church in McCartyville. A reception followed in the Community Hall in Port Jefferson. Witnesses were maid of honor Carol Thaman Carity, best man Jim Shepherd, bridesmaids Anna Sweigart Elsass, Linda Koppin Beatty and Shirley Sweigart Stengel and groomsmen Dick Lenz and Dave Koppin.

Jim is the son of the late Erma and Ray Koppin. He has four sisters, Carol Thompson, of Dayton, Nancy McKee, of Athens, Linda Beatty, of Madison, and Susan Fitzhugh, of Maryland; and four brothers, Dave Koppin, of Virginia, Gary Koppin, of Sidney, and Scott Koppin and Lee Koppin, both of Anna.

Betty is the daughter of the late Joscal and Dallas Sweigart. She has four sisters, Anna Elsass and Linda Goode, both of Sidney, Shirley Stengel, of Jackson Center, and Carol Tracy, of Huntsville.

The Koppins are the parents of a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Missy Koppin, of Fort Loramie, and a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Doug Thomas, of Fort Loramie. They have four grandchildren.

Jim retired from Minster Machine, where he worked for 47 years. Betty retired from Anna Lumber, where she worked for 18 years.

They enjoy spending time with friends and taking bus trips.
