Kempfers celebrate 50th anniversary

ANNA — Carl and Judy Kempfer, of Anna, will celebrate 50 years of marriage on June 28 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins at the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

Afterward, they will have lunch and celebrate with their family at the Pala 330 in Botkins. An open house will follow from 1 to 3 p.m.

Carl and the former Judy Schaub were married at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rhine on May 30, 1970. It was a sunny but windy Saturday. The late Rev. Mark Dorenkamp officiated the ceremony. Witnesses to the wedding were matron of honor Maryann Warniment, bridesmaids Linda Cole, Marilyn Maurer, Joyce Ike and Shirley Ellinger, flower girl Dinese Limbert, best man Ron Meyer, groomsmen Robert Schaub, Eugene Schaub, Richard Schaub and the late Wayne Kempfer, and ring bearer Steve Warniment.

Carl and Judy are the parents of Michelle and Joe King, of Anna, and Amy and Charles Petsch, of Vandalia. They have four grandchildren, Whitney King, Carley King, Tyler King and Eli Petsch.

Judy is the daughter of the late William and Viola Schaub. She is the sister of Robert and Cindy Schaub, of Russia, Maryann and James Warniment, of Wapakoneta, Linda and Jack Cole, of Wapakoneta, and Eugene Schaub, of Botkins.

Carl is the son of the late Kenneth and Eileen Kempfer. He is the brother of Marilyn and Randy Maurer, of Botkins, and Joyce and Rick Ike, of Jackson Center.

The couple still farms. Carl was a Pioneer Sees salesman for 31 years before stepping down, and has sold grain equipment since 1976.

Carl is a member of the Anna Legion Post 446, is a VFW member in Wapakoneta, a member of the National Rifle Association and a member of Newport Gun Club in Newport. Judy works with her garden and flowers. They enjoy spending time with family and friends.

The couple are members of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins.

They plan on taking a trip to Tennessee with their children and grandchildren next year.
