SIDNEY — Helen and Harvey Wooddell, of Sidney, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, Sept. 13, 2017, at a luncheon at Lane Park with friends, Kathryn and Sam Rees, whose own wedding they had witnessed 65 years ago.

Harvey and the former Helen Morelock were married Aug. 30, 1952 in the First Methodist Church in Aurora, Colorado. The Rev. Dr. John Flinn performed the ceremony on a sunny day. Helen had traveled from Ohio to Colorado to get married, because her fiance was stationed at an Air Force base there. Witnesses were Helen and Richard Wooddell. The couple had met at school.

Harvey is the son of the late Anna and Harvey Wooddell. He has two deceased brothers, Howard Wooddell and Richard Wooddell, and three deceased sisters, Hazel Zumbrum, Ethel Lamastus and Ruth Michael.

Helen is the daughter of the late Annie and Sherman Morelock. She has two living sisters, Erma Cotterman and Ruth Daugherty, both of Sidney. Another sister, Martha Yinger, and a brother, Don Morelock, are deceased.

The Wooddells have three sons and two daughters-in-law, Roger and Deborah Wooddell, Carl and Sandra Wooddell, and Dale Wooddell, all of Sidney. They have six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Harvey owned Woody’s Market. He retired in 1995. Helen was a clerk in Woody’s Market. She retired in 1993.

The couple attend the Sidney First United Methodist Church. They enjoy sewing, traveling and fishing.
