Turners wed 50 years

FORT LORAMIE — Sheila K. and John C. Turner, of Fort Loramie, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Dec. 31, 2017, at an 11 a.m. Mass in the St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie and a dinner in St. Michael Hall.

John and the former Sheila Kathleen Walkup were married, Dec. 30, 1967, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dayton. The Rev. Robert Lux performed the ceremony on a sunny winter day with snow on the ground. Witnesses were matron of honor Jeannie (Wassi) Calufield; best man Frank Turner; groomsmen, Paul Turner, David Grunkemeyer, Patrick Caulfield, James Jaulfield and Richard Caulfield; and bridesmaids Sharon (Black) Caulfield, Dolores (Caulfield) Broerman, Bonnie (Puthoff) Turner, Rosanne (Turner) Grunkemeyer and Susand Eliane (Turner) Tillman. The couple had met during an excursion through Miami-Jacobs College to a Cleveland Browns football game.

John is the son of the late Rosemary (Wissman) and Joseph F. Turner. He has three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Frank and Bonnie Turner, Paul and Emily Turner, and Michael and Phyllis Turner, all of Fort Loramie; and two sisters and a living brother-in-law, Rosanne Grunkemeyer, of Piqua, and Susan Elaine and Andy Tillman, of Marysville. Another brother-in-law, David Grunkemeyer, is deceased.

Sheila is the daughter of the late Margaret C. (Caulfield) and Robert A. Walkup.

The Turners have two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rob Turner, of Fort Loramie, and Kevin and Erica Turner, of Sidney; and a daughter, Erin Turner, of Fort Loramie. They have seven grandchildren.

Sheila retired as a deputy from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. John retired from Minster Machine Co. as a repair specialist and is currently employed by the Shelby County Auditor’s Office as a weights and measures inspector.

The couple attend St. Michael Catholic Church and are volunteers for school, church and American Legion activities. They enjoy sports events and following their grandchildren’s activities.
