SIDNEY — A new trustee has been appointed for Washington Township.

Theodore H. Larger was appointed trustee following an emergency special session called by Trustees Randy Schwable and Douglas K. Stangel on May 27, 2017, at 8 a.m. at the Washington Township House. The purpose of this meeting was to appoint a replacement for the vacant position of township trustee due to the passing of Trustee William H. Huffman, who died May 13, 2017. A new trustee had to be appointed within 30 days from May 13.

The Trustees contacted several persons for this appointment. The requirements of the position include being a resident of the Washington Township; being a registered voter; availability and must have a CDL driver’s license.

After some discussion, the trustees agreed to appoint Larger for the position to carry out the remaining term of Huffman, which ends Dec. 31, 2017. Larger was appointed to begin the remaining term starting June 1, 2017.
