HOUSTON — Community Blood Center representative Kathy Plieman attended the recent meeting of the Houston Community Association to present trustees with a plaque to recognize the association for being a “Platinum Partner” of the Blood Center by reaching 100 percent of its goals in 2016.

There will be a spaghetti dinner benefit held in the Houston Community Association building on July 16 from 4 to 9 p.m. for Rachelle Cooper to help her with medical expenses she will incur due to a devastating auto accident on Interstate 75 on April 29. Tickets are $8 and must be purchased in advance of the event. To purchase please call 937-570-5741.

The winners of the Houston High School scholarship this year were Isaiah Beaver and Allison Voisard. They each received $500.

Houston Community Association trustees are in need of volunteers to work in our food booth at the Shelby County Fair. Trustees are asking anyone (ages 12 and up) that would like to work in the food booth to come to the Association building on July 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. and sign up to work a shift or two. If you are a Houston High School student and need volunteer hours for our scholarship, come on July 5 and sign up to work. You may also contact any of the following trustees: Patty Cotterman, Phil Cozad, Jason Curl, Jack Curl, Mike Curl, Trisha Curl, and Zack Wones and let them know when you can work. The association needs lots of help during fair week.

To rent the building call Patricia Curl at 937-638-6238.

The association’s next meeting will be held July 5 at 8 p.m.
