SIDNEY — The Memory Fund, a donor advised charitable fund, has been established at the Community Foundation of Shelby County. The fund’s donor has chosen to remain anonymous, because in their words: “I’m happy with just me knowing it.”

The donor prefers community foundations to enable giving locally.

Donor advised funds enable an individual, couple or family to stay involved with its grants by recommending grant amounts and recipient organizations. The Community Foundation administers 24 long-term donor advised funds plus 39 Gift Accounts, short-term donor advised funds.

“I hope the people who are helped by this Fund will have a better life in their community because of its help with something that was worrisome for them,” said the donor. “Employees with the Community Foundation are fantastic to work with!”

The Community Foundation is celebrating its 65th anniversary. It administers assets of more than $30 million in 164 charitable funds including scholarship, community granting, organization, project/campaign and donor advised funds. Its role is to carry out the wishes of donors who want to forever support an aspect of the Shelby County community.
