Upper Valley Career Center Board of Education

PIQUA — The Upper Valley Career Center Board of Education will meet Monday, July 24, at 6 p.m. in the Adams Board Room.

The superintendent’s report will include reports on board service awards, beginning-of-school-year events, district highlights and upcoming board meeting. Various purchase orders are on the agenda, including a purchase order to Bank of New York Mellon for $913,387.50 for bond retirement. The board is expected to adopt a resolution for a calamity day alternative make-up plan for the upcoming school year. Also included on the agenda are various personnel items.

Sidney City Council

SIDNEY — The Sidney City Council will meet Monday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers in the Municipal Building.

There will be a police officer swearing-in ceremony of John Curtis that will be conducted by Sidney Police Chief Will Balling.

Council is expected to adopt two ordinances to amend the zoning code pertaining to compliance requirements and the prohibition of medical marijuana, and to amend the traffic control map to establish a “no parking” zone on the south side of Belmont Street between Broadway Avenue and East Avenue in front of Whittier School.

Council will also introduce two ordinances for making supplemental appropriations for 2017 and to assess the cost of repairs of dangerous buildings.

It is expected that council will adopt a resolution accepting the Shreves replot of two lots to become one lot at 127 W. Parkwood St.

There will be discussions on Chipotle Mexican Grill and Wingers liquor permit requests, and a midyear status update on the economic development efforts in Sidney.

They will also move into executive session to discuss pending or imminent court action.

Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation Board of Directors

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Board of Directors will meet at 8 a.m., Friday, July 28, in Room 3 of the William Green Building, 30 W. Spring St., Columbus.
