Community association plans events

HOUSTON — The Houston Community Association met Sept. 6 to plan for upcoming events.

Trustees are preparing for the Lake Loramie State Park Fall Festival, scheduled for Friday through Sunday. Gene Greve is chairman of the association’s participation. He reported that he will need help with setting up, tearing down and manning the association booth. To help, call 937-538-0077. Houston High School students who volunteer can count their hours on a scholarship application for college.

Friday night pizza nights will begin Oct. 13 from 5 to 9 p.m. Phil Cozad is chairing these pizza nights.

The annual turkey/ham dinner will be Nov. 12.

The community building can be rented for weddings, parties, reunions or graduation parties. There is seating for 250 people. Kitchen facilities are available. Wedding rates are $225 with a $100 deposit for members and $325 with a $150 deposit for nonmembers. The other rates are $75 with a $50 deposit for members and $100 with a $75 deposit for non-members.

To become a member, the rates are $10 for a family and $5 for a single person. These rates are due yearly in February. Member rental rates are available to those who have been association members for at least two years.
