Houston association discusses events

HOUSTON — The Houston Community Association discussed upcoming events during its meeting, Oct. 4.

The first Friday Pizza Night will be Oct. 13 from 5 to 9 p.m. Pizzas are for carry out or dining in. People who phone in orders in advance will have pizzas ready for their arrival. All money made will be placed in the association’s scholarship fund. It was announced that an incorrect date for the December pizza night has been published on the Houston School Band calendar. The correct date should be Dec. 1.

Trick or Treat in the Hardin-Houston area will be Oct. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. In Houston, the fire department will have firemen on trucks, with the lights flashing on the trucks, distributing candy, at the north and south ends of state Route 66 to help slow traffic down as it goes through town.

A turkey/ham dinner will be Nov. 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It was noted that the community association building can be rented for weddings, parties, reunions or graduation parties. There is seating for 250 people. Kitchen facilities are available as well. For rate information, call 937-638-6238.

Community association membership dues are $10 for a family and $5 for a single person. The next meeting will be Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
