WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has announced that the National Park Service (NPS), in partnership with the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), awarded the Village of Russia $143,240 to renovate a playground located at the Russia Community Park. The funds were granted through the LWCF State & Local Assistance Program which helps communities outside of the national park boundaries leverage investment in local parks.

“Ohio’s community parks give Ohioans a safe place to be active outdoors and gather with their neighbors,” said Brown. “This investment is welcome news for all who use the community park.”

This grant to the village of Russia will go toward the replacement of a 40-year-old playground with a new accessible playground with poured-in-place rubber safety surfacing.
