SIDNEY — Local blood drive sponsors are teaming up with Community Blood Center to host a community blood drives in November. Everyone who registers to donate at a community or business blood drive will get a free “Buckeye Blood Donor” football T-shirt. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at www.DonorTime.com or call 800-388-GIVE.
The “Buckeye Blood Donor” campaign celebrates late autumn as the time of year when football championships are made. Everyone who registers to donate Monday, Nov. 6, through Saturday, Dec. 9, at a CBC Donor Center and most CBC mobile blood drives will receive the “Buckeye Blood Donor” T-shirt. The gray t-shirt features a scarlet and gray football helmet with the map of Ohio and the CBC blood drop as the helmet emblem.

Blood donation requirements: Donors are required to provide a photo ID that includes their full name. Past CBC donors are also asked to bring their CBC donor ID card. Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with parental consent: form available at www.givingblood.org or at CBC branch and blood drive locations), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds (you may have to weigh more, depending on your height), and be in good physical health. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) changes blood donor eligibility guidelines periodically. Individuals with eligibility questions are invited to email [email protected] or call 800-388-GIVE.
