Holy Angels students participate in Christmas of Yesteryear exhibit

Staff report

SIDNEY — The Holy Angels Art Department was invited to participate in the Shelby County Historical Society Christmas of Yesteryear exhibit.

In keeping with the theme of “long ago,” the students in grades 5 through 8 hand-painted ornaments to be displayed on one of the designated Christmas trees.

Under the direction of art teacher, Kara Wiley, the students painted various Christmas characters, such as angels, reindeer, Santa, snowmen, gingerbread men, and nutcrackers on long-handled wooden spoons. The spoons were tucked into the tree branches and combined to give the tree a warm, nostalgic look.

Wiley and the students were rewarded for all of their hard work, as Holy Angels won the People’s Choice Award for best tree.
