MOULTON — The Auglaize County Historical Society presents “Journey the Oregon Trail” on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 33A, Moulton. The event is free and open to the public.

Take a trip back in time with local historian and former ACHS president Chandra Hoffman as she shares her adventure following the Oregon Trail. Learn the history of the trail as she presents photos and commentary about actual river crossings, mountain passes, forts, pony express stations, grave sites, pioneer diaries, and many miles of original trail ruts still visible today. See the changing and breathtaking scenery of the journey west and imagine the extraordinarily difficult feat the pioneers faced crossing the plains and mountains to reach the fertile Willamette Valley. In the process, we’ll all learn about how to plan a great heritage tourism vacation!

“Chandra is a great historian, and methodically planned out this trip to learn as much as she could about our great national treasure, the Oregon Trail. Those of us who followed Chan’s many Facebook posts enjoyed last year’s trip vicariously with Chan, her sister, and brother-in-law,” said Auglaize County Historical Society administrator Rachel Barber. “We’re excited to present a bit of summer vacation here in the middle of our Ohio winter.”

Founded in 1963, the Auglaize County Historical Society collects, preserves, interprets, and shares the history of Auglaize County and its people through exhibits, programs, and publications.
