Sink hole closes Piqua street

Piqua officials examine a sink hole that caused concern on Commercial Avenue, Thursday. A pickup truck parked over a storm sewer fell up to its front axle when the storm sewer beneath it collapsed around 12:30 p.m. City officials said that recent rains weakened the 15-inch storm sewer that runs under Commercial Avenue, causing the collapse. Commercial Avenue, between Miami and Young streets will remain closed until officials can evaluate damage and repair the storm sewer. The truck that fell into the opening in the storm sewer was winched out of the hole. There were no injuries.
