CBC’S Kathy Pleiman and Robert Snowden are ready for the “Country Fun Blood Drive” Tuesday, June 16, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Michael’s Hall in Fort Loramie.

FORT LORAMIE — St. Michael’s Hall in Fort Loramie will host the annual “Country Fun Blood Drive” Tuesday, June 16, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the chance to win two Country Concert tickets and a deluxe Hawaii vacation for two. Everyone who registers to donate will receive a free “Donor Surf Co.” surfboard T-shirt and everyone age 18 and older will also be entered in the Community Blood Center (CBC) “Get on Board – Give Blood Summer Blood Drive” drawing to win an expense-paid Hawaii vacation. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at www.DonorTime.com or call 800-388-GIVE.

The “Country Fun Blood Drive” will feature several door prizes in the country summer fun theme. Everyone who registers to donate will be entered in the drawing for two reserve seat tickets to the Country Concert for the Saturday, July 11 performance. There will also be special decorations and refreshments in the Donor Café. The blood drive is sponsored by the Fort Loramie Community Service Club, the Knights of St. John, and the Fort Loramie American Legion Auxiliary.

The grand prize deluxe Hawaii Vacation for two in the CBC “Get on Board – Give Blood Summer Blood Drive” includes air travel and deluxe accommodations for eight nights at two island locations. All taxes, fees and meals are included. The vacation package also includes pre-paid activities and sight-seeing excursions, plus all ground transportation.

Everyone age 18 and older who registers to donate with CBC from May 4 through Aug. 28 will be automatically entered in the “Get on Board – Give Blood Summer Blood Drive” drawing. REACH magazine is the media sponsor. Eligible donors can enter the drawing a second time when they register for a second donation during the blood drive period. Official rules are available at www.givingblood.org.

Anyone who registers to donate Saturday, July 25, at any CBC Donor Center and most CBC mobile blood drives will receive CBC’s second special-edition, Hawaiian surf board design T-shirt of the summer. The “Donor Surf Co.” T-shirt is bright blue with a colorful surfboard and island floral design, plus the CBC blood drop and the slogan “Drop In, Lei Back, & Donate.”

On display at the “Country Fun Blood Drive” will be the America’s Blood Centers Award of Excellence presented to the Shelby County Donor Community for the Most Productive Blood Drive of 2014. CBC nominated the entire donor community of Shelby County for the national award because of the county’s common bond of support for blood donations. Shelby County ranks only 9th in population in the CBC service area, but is third in total number of registered donors. Among the population eligible by age to donate, one out of four people are blood donors.
