Theater group outlines plans

SIDNEY — Sock & Buskin Players has announced its schedule for the next year.

The Junior Players will perform, Aug. 4, during the Relay for Life in Sidney and Aug. 5 in Tipp City for the Arts Adventure.

Christi Thomas outlined the dessert-and-a-show Sock & Buskin will present April 22, in The Bridge restaurant. Award-winning actor Greg Smith, of Columbus, will perform an original production, “Precious Heart,” at 7:30 in the second floor banquet room. Attendees may have dinner prior to the show in the restaurant and receive a free appetizer with the purchase of two entrees. Tickets for the show and dessert cost $15 and can be obtained by emailing [email protected] or calling 937-726-0755.

Sarah Liggett will work with the kids during Raise the Roof’s summer theater camp, June 5-9, in the Historic Sidney Theatre.

Auditions for Sock & Buskin’s summer musical, will be June 3-4. “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will be presented Aug. 11-12 and is to be directed by Liz Maxson.

Members also talked about the possibility of a pancake breakfast fundraiser at Applebees and dinners at Chipotle.

Future productions will include “Love Letters,” to be directed by Thomas, next February for a Valentine dessert-and-a-show.

The next Sock & Buskin meeting will be April 8 at 9 a.m. in the Brew Nation Coffee Shop in downtown Sidney. Everyone who is interested in live theater in Shelby County is encouraged to attend.
