Rotarians learn marketing strategies

SIDNEY — Kevin Behr and Audrey Gutman from Behr Design LLC talked about design and marketing services during a presentation to the Sidney Rotary Club recently.

Behr Design is a full-service advertising and marketing agency in Sidney. The company is energized to continually meet the challenges of the ever-changing marketing and digital media landscape to build lasting relationships with valued clients, they said.

According to Gutman, there is no “one size fits all” solution for the web. Websites should be customized for each business and the website should be the central hub of information about the business. An effective website designer considers the audience that will view/use the site and is designed accordingly, she said. Creating a site map at the beginning of the project is an important step to designing an effective website. Today, most people prefer interactive websites which include videos, social media links, blogs, rotating photos and “call to action” opportunities.

Websites should be continually updated so that customers have a reason to return, she said. Part of the update includes keeping the website up to code so that the site is optimized for search engines that keep changing the algorithms required to optimize all of the functions on the site.

A website should be just one tool for a business marketing strategy. An effective marketing strategy includes direct mail, brochures, email marketing, online marketing, signage, tradeshows and print publications.
