SIDNEY — Marcus “Mark” Marbelitini, a member of the Sidney Rotary Club, is the district governor of Rotary for the area that includes Sidney.

He is the first district governor from Sidney since 1961.

Marbelitini addressed the local club during its meeting, July 10.

He said the theme for Rotary this year is Making a Difference. He advised that there are 51 Rotary clubs in our district and members have the power to help make a difference for many people. Marbelitini said that one of his goals while being the district governor is to help clubs work together to solve a bigger problem or help on a larger scale then one club could do on its own. He highlighted a smaller club that started with $3,000 and was able to work with other clubs and industries to turn that $3,000 $75,000 water project in Peru.

Marbelitini also talked about the Rotary Student Exchange program. He said that originally, Rotary always spoke to the kids about what they could not do, but now they are talking more about what they should be doing during this experience. He spoke of the six Bs. They are the following: be doing something, be curious, be on purpose, be grateful, be of service and be here in the now (pay attention). He spoke about wanting the kids to enjoy their time and make long-lasting memories.
