Houston advances to D-IV sectional finals
DEGRAFF - Houston advanced to the sectional finals with an 8-2 victory over Riverside in Division IV tournament baseball action Friday.

The Wildcats, now 9-12, will face County rival Fort Loramie Tuesday at Hardman Field in Piqua for the right to advance to the district.

Jor Gordon went the distance for the Wildcats, fanning six. He also had two doubles and a single and scored three times.

Brent Byram was 3-for-3 with two doubles and Zach Kiehl had two hits and drove in three.

For Riverside, Smith and Herron both had two hits, and Seeling doubled.

Gordon (WP) and Holthaus; Fairchild (LP), Seeling (7) and Ehresman.

Minster upset 5-4

MINSTER - New Knoxville pulled off a big upset in the Minster Division IV Sectional Tournament Thursday night, beating top-seeded Minster 5-4 in the finals.

Knoxville rode the five-hit pitching of Caleb Allen to the win. He struck out 10 and walked six in going the distance.






Marcus Reineke was 3-for-4 with a double, Cody Horstman 2-for-3 and Michael Wood 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs for Knoxville.

For Minster, Austin Baumer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Jack Griner was 2-for-3.

• In the second game Thursday, New Bremen blanked Fort Recovery 7-0 on a one-hitter by Andy Timmerman and Corey Jutte.

Timmerman went six and struck out five.

For Bremen, Jutte was 2-for-3 and Spencer Rohr 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

Both New Knoxville and New Bremen advance to the district and the winners from Crestview on Wednesday.

Raiders win 8-3

BOTKINS - Russia beat Botkins 8-3 in County play Friday.

Russia is now 15-10 overall. Botkins is 1-17.

Russia didn't put it away until the seventh, with three runs.

Jacob Hoying singled and doubled, Nathan Wilson had two hits, Josh Grilliot tripled and Kyle Francis doubled for the Raiders.

For Botkins, Jan Mueller and Cody Meyer had two hits each.

John Magoto came on in relief in the sixth inning for Russia and struck out the side in the sixth and seventh innings.

Borchers (WP), Magoto (6) and Francis; Stutsman and Kohler.
