GWOC expands
League unanimously accepts Greenville, West Carrollton
The Greater Western Ohio Conference is expanding from its current 16 teams to 18 next year after Greenville and West Carrollton were unanimously accepted into the conference during the league's month executive meeting Wednesday.

According to a news release from GWOC commissioner Eric Spahr, membership for the two schools will begin in the fall of next year in selected sports.

More details regarding scheduling will be forthcoming following an athletic director's meeting to be held next week.

Greenville was a part of the league when it formed 10 years ago, but left for the Mid-Miami League, which folded soon after. That left Greenville as an independent.

West Carrollton was also a part of the MML when it folded.

Greenville will likely rejoin Sidney, Piqua, Vandalia, Troy and Trotwood in the GWOC North. West Carrollton will go to the GWOC South with Springboro, Fairborn, Miamisburg, Lebanon and Xenia.

That will give all three divisions of the GWOC six teams. The Central includes Beavercreek, Centerville, Fairmont, Northmont, Springfield and Wayne.

"The GWOC is extremely excited about Greenville and West Carrollton joining the GWOC," said Spahr. "Their academics and athletics add to the conference's purpose and mission. Both fit the GWOC geogrphic reach and share qualities the conference seeks in membership."
