Commissioners approve change orders

SIDNEY — Shelby County Commissioners approved two change orders during their regular meeting, Thursday, Nov. 29.

The orders concerned current building projects: an addition to Fair Haven Shelby County Home and the construction of the Bob Sargeant and Family Shelby County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center.

Change orders make corrections, additions or deletions to previously approved plans and budgets for such projects.

Thursday, the commissioners approved an additional $32,743 in budgeted expenditures for the animal shelter, making the total project cost $3,348,577. The added costs include measures to meet code requirements and piping for some plumbing. The Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation had set a $2,400,000 fundraising goal in support of the shelter.

The change order also deleted about $550 in materials costs, because the material has been donated.

For the Fair Haven project, the commissioners approved an additional $5,037 in costs to install waterproofing membrane on the walls of bariatric toilet rooms, lamination of some walls in a technology closet, installing a tamper swith and deleting 300 feet of underground conduit due to Dayton Power & Light’s redesign.

In business during a meeting, Nov. 27, the commissioners had a viewing for a petition to vacate a portion of Canal Street and alleys in Cynthian Township. The hearing was Thursday.
