PIQUA — The Upper Valley Career Center received straight A’s on the Ohio Department of Education’s school report card, according to results released on Feb. 25.

“A state review of our data indicates that we have earned A’s on the four areas graded in the most recent report card: Technical Skill Attainment, Four and Five Year Graduation Rates, and Post-High School Placement,” said UVCC Superintendent Dr. Nancy Luce, adding that she is pleased with the results.

Technical Skill Attainment measures the proportion of students passing technical assessments, which are designed to measure the skills and knowledge learned in a student’s career-technical program. The A grade earned in this category indicates that 73.1 percent of students achieved this goal.

Under Graduation Rate, 97 percent of students graduated in four years, and 99 percent graduated in five years.

Post-High School Placement measures the proportion of students who are employed, in an apprenticeship, in the military, or are enrolled in post-secondary education or advanced training in the six months after leaving UVCC. In this category, 94.2 percent of students met the goal.

“We celebrate the accomplishments of our students and staff as reflected in the report and will continually re-evaluate the training and services needed to best prepare our students,” Luce said.

Excellence in both the student learning experience and student achievement remain priorities for the district.

“Upper Valley Career Center continues to focus on our students earning a diploma and being prepared for immediate employment, military service and/or continued post-secondary training,” Luce noted.
