VERSAILLES — The Versailles Poultry Days will celebrate farmers at its 2016 event, June 10-12.

The board of directors this week announced that the popular festival’s theme will be “A Salute to the American Farmer.”

This year’s will be the 65th annual festival, making it one of the oldest in Ohio. To mark the special anniversary year, organizers have extended an invitation to all past Miss Chicks, Little Misses Poultry Days and festival chairmen to participate in the grand parade, scheduled for June 11 at 11 a.m. To register to ride in the parade, send name, address and email address to the board by mail at Versailles Poultry Days, P.O. Box 108, Versailles, OH 45380 or by email at chairman@versaillespoultrydays by May 1.

There is also a plan to exhibit photos of the crowning festivals of all past Miss Chicks. Photos are still needed from the following years: 1957, Janie Sharp, of Minster; 1953, Linda Weherley, of Arcanum; 1956, Judy Reeser, of Bradford; 1958, Karen Earhart, of Ludlow Falls; 1961, Pat Rudy, of Covington; 1963, Diane Thompson, of Franklin-Monroe; 1965, Jane Ernst, of Fort Loramie; 1979, Dana McKibben, of Franklin-Monroe; 1985, Jody Lutz, of Franklin-Monroe, 1987, Rhonda Grilliot, of Versailles; and 1994, Carrie Armstrong, of Versailles.

Organizers are also looking for copies of the 1953, 1955 and 1958 Poultry Days programs. People willing to share those or other pre-1980 Poultry Days photographs should email [email protected] or call 419-233-0159.

Registration information for the parade and other festival events will be posted as available at www.versaillespoultrydays.com
