CELINA — Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey is encouraging law enforcement officers and other individuals, including drug users, to use extreme caution. Recent lab testing of a substance believed to be heroin actually contained Tramadol, Cocaine, Heroin, Fentanyl, Carfentanil as well as Acetyl Fentanyl and other drugs.

These drugs are incredibly dangerous and can be fatal when ingested or when absorbed through the skin. Law Enforcement, corrections staff, EMS, fire and hospital staff are being warned to use extreme caution in dealing with any suspected drug or drug paraphernalia.

Tramadol is classified as a centrally-acting, oral analgesic (pain drug) that contains an opioid (narcotic)

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent

Carfentanil, a fentanyl analog with a potency approximately 10,000 times that of morphine, has been linked to a significant number of overdose deaths

Acetyl fentanyl is a designer drug and fentanyl analog with a potency 40 times greater than heroin and 80 times greater than morphine.
