SIDNEY — Sidney Civic Band will feature the music of composer John Williams during its free concert Friday, July 8, at 7 p.m., on courtsquare.

“This concert is all about a living legend in the industry, John Williams,” said Director Phil Chilcote. “His career has spanned six decades and his award-winning music has reached many generations.”

Selections include “Fantasy of Flight,” a medley of themes from “Harry Potter” and “Star Wars” movies, “Hymn to the Fallen” from “Saving Private Ryan,” and special guest artist Lorie Beigel will perform “Schindler’s List” on the violin with the band. Other pieces are “Symphonic Soundtracks,” “A Prayer for Peace,” “Evening at Pops,” “Midway March” and “Star Wars Medley.”

“We are looking forward to performing these beautiful arrangements for our audience Friday night, just nine selections, but very elaborate compositions,” said Chilcote.

Refreshments will be available for purchase from Connection Point Church of God Relay for Life team, beginning 30 minutes prior to the concert. A Spot pie will be given away to the winner of “The Spot Pie Question,” and a tray of baked goods from Sidney’s Bob Evans restaurant will also go to a lucky fan.

In case of rain, the concert will be at Connection Point Church of God, 1510 Campbell Road.
