IUTIS plans ice cream social

SIDNEY — The IUTIS softball club will host its annual ice cream social, July 14, from 5 to 9 p.m., in Harmon Park, 870 St. Marys Ave.

The fundraiser will feature cake and ice cream for 50 cents, a dunk tank, concessions, children’s activities, a corn hole tournament and four softball championship games. Hamburger and hot dog dinners will be for sale.

IUTIS players have been selling ice cream tickets, and tickets will be available at the event. The boy who sells the most tickets will win a bicycle.

IUTIS club coaches, county commissioners and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office representatives will take turns in the dunk tank.

Teams can register for the corn hole tournament by calling 726-9998. There is a $20 entry fee per team. Cash prizes of $75 for the winning team, $50 for the team that comes in second and $25 for the team placing third will be awarded. Proceeds of the tournament will benefit Shelby County Relay for Life and the Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation.

A superstar game softball game will begin at 5 p.m. The Continental League Championship game starts at 6 p.m. The American League Championship will be played at 7:45 p.m. and the National League Champion will determined in a game beginning at 9:10 p.m.

The rain date is July 15.
