New Bremen students hold positions at girls state

ALLIANCE — Five students from New Bremen who attended the 70th annual Buckeye Girls State held in June at the University of Mount Union served in appointed and elected offices.

Nearly 900 high school girls who will be seniors when school begins in August participated in the week-long government-in-action workshop sponsored by the Ohio American Legion Auxiliary. The program is designed to educate the citizens of tomorrow in city, county, and state government functions and operations.

At Buckeye Girls State, Kennedy Hoying, held the office of director of law in Zeller City, Masten County. Kelli Maurer, held the position of city engineer in Davidson City, Holcshuh County. Logan Wells, held the office of state representative for Kaptur City, Junge County. Taylor Powers, held the position of city director of public service for Vivo City, Masten County. Jordan Sailer, held the position of assistant director in Junge City, Junge County.

Shirley Maurer, member of New Bremen Auxiliary 241 and Department 1st Vice President volunteered her time as Secretary to the Government Office.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 241 of New Bremen was proud to sponsor these five outstanding young ladies.
