TROY — The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center has announced a call for artists and student artists to participate in a chalk art competition in downtown Troy, Aug. 28.

The event is in conjunction with Troy Main Street’s “Streets Alive” event. Artists may begin working at 3 p.m., with judging for cash prizes and other awards beginning at 8 p.m. The Hayner Center will provide art chalk for artists who have preregistered for the event by Aug. 25.

“Chalk on the Walk” entries must be planned around the theme, There’s No Place Like Home. Entries will be judged with the following criteria: Originality, creativity and artistic technique; adherence to the theme; and best use of color and chalk media.
