SIDNEY — The Dayton Business Journal has listed nine local public school systems in the top 50 of the region, based on state report card statistics issued by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE).

The findings were published in the weekly journal, Dec. 2. The publication ranked the Fort Loramie Local School District at No. 2. Oakwood City School District in Montgomery County was No. 1.

Other local schools making the list were Anna at No. 4, Versailles Exempted Village Schools at No. 5, Botkins at No. 6, Russia at No. 8, Jackson Center at No. 18, Hardin-Houston at No. 33, Fairlawn at No. 40 and Sidney City Schools at No. 50.

The listing, prepared for the magazine by Jane Applegate, compared school districts in Butler, Clark, Greene, Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby and Warren counties.

Complete findings are at reportcard.education.ohio.gov.

The journal cited the state’s performance index measure for each district, enrollment, graduation rates for 2014-2015, attendance rate and the percentage of standards met. The standards were based on indicators that measured the number of students who passed state tests. Those included tests in English language arts for students in grades 3 through 8; mathematics for students in grades 3 through 8 and 11; social studies in grades 4, 6 and 11; science in grades 5, 8 and 11; reading and writing in grade 11; and algebra, biology, English and geometry for students in high school.
