URBANA (AP) — A competency hearing for a teenager charged in an Ohio school shooting that wounded two students has been pushed back to May.

An attorney for 17-year-old Ely Serna asked a Champaign County Juvenile Court judge for the continuance because a defense psychologist couldn’t attend Friday’s hearing. The judge moved the hearing to May 5, also ruling that psychologists’ testimony in that hearing will be closed to the public.

Serna is charged as a juvenile with attempted murder, felonious assault and other offenses for the Jan. 20 attack at a high school in West Liberty. He has denied the charges.

Authorities allege he fired a shotgun at a classmate in a bathroom, critically wounding the teen, and then fired at classrooms. A second student struck by a shot was slightly injured.
