Gun accidentally discharges at Walmart on Friday

SIDNEY — A Sidney man was charged with a misdemeanor after his handgun accidentally went off while at Walmart Friday evening.

Kevin Wilson, 27, 1467 E. Court St., was charged with discharging a firearm in the city after he accidental discharged his handgun. According to Sidney Police Captain Bill Shoemaker, Wilson was in the breezeway near the kiddie bus ride with his family around 5:30 p.m. when he reached in his pocket and the gun went off.

No one was hurt from the incident.

Sidney Police responded and confiscated Wilson’s gun as evidence. Shoemaker said Wilson is a carry conceal weapon (CCW) permit holder and that Shelby County Sheriff John Lenhart will make any decisions regarding the future status of his permit.
