Ohioans get help with home repairs

COLUMBUS — Twenty-two local organizations received grants to help low-income Ohioans complete home repairs and provide homebuyer counseling. The Ohio Development Services Agency granted approximately $4.57 million to support health and safety home repairs, improve handicapped accessibility and provide down payment assistance and homebuyer counseling.

Community Action Organization of Delaware, Madison, and Union Counties, which serves Champaign, Delaware, Logan, Madison, Shelby and Union counties, received a $300,000 grant.

Local organizations use the Housing Assistance Grant Program to help Ohioans at or below 50 percent of the area median income with emergency home repairs and Ohioans at or below 65 percent of the area median income with down payment assistance or homebuyer counseling. The program is funded by the Ohio Housing Trust Fund.
