Freytag firm to design animal shelter

SIDNEY — Freytag & Associates Inc., of Sidney, has been awarded the contract for architectural services for the planning and management of the construction phase of the new Shelby County animal shelter.

Shelby County commissioners selected the local firm during a recent meeting.

In other business, the commissioners:

• Authorized seeking bids for the Newport sanitary sewer project. Bids will be opened May 4, at 11 a.m.

• Awarded contracts for $375,000 to Sturm Construction for addition site-development at Fair Haven; for $1,908,000 to Daikin Applied Americas Inc. for HVAC renovation in the Shelby County Annex building; for $890,601.05 to Barrett Paving Materials Inc. for the 2017 resurfacing program; and for $102,155.40 to Ruhenkamp Farm Drainage Inc. for the Fort Loramie-Swanders Road force main-replacement project.

• Adopted a resolution supporting the continuance of state 1-to-1 level funding for Ohio’s soil and water conservation districts.

• Took under advisement until May 9, three statements of qualifications from architectural firms for the transitional housing outbuilding project.
