The market ordinance will become a law on Thursday of next week, and in accordance with its provisions the first market may be held on Saturday following. The days chosen for its holding are Wednesdays and Saturdays, from daylight to 1 o’clock in the afternoon on the former, and from noon until 10 p.m. on the latter. The present location is the south side of North Street, between Main and Miami avenues.

Hudson Flinn today announced that he would be a candidate for mayor of Sidney at the fall election.

Three more men enlisted in Co. L at the armory this week. They are: Howard Gannon, Raymond Rhodehamel and Edward Meyer. Capt. Rhoades reports that 60 more men are needed to bring the company up to the required war strength of 146 officers and men.

War Production Board officials today predicted that nationwide rationing of gasoline will be put into effect within the next few weeks. This far-reaching step will be taken to conserve the country’s most precious stockpile of rubber – automobile tires – WPB spokesmen said.

Pvt. Norris Cromes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cromes, South Main Avenue, graduated today from the Air Corps technical school at Kessler Field, Miss.

MINSTER – Frank Kelley of Botkins was employed by the Minster Board of Education to teach high school math. He will replace Lester Steinlage who has resigned to attend University of Dayton to complete work on his masters degree.
Kelly formerly taught at New Bremen, New Knoxville and Wapakoneta and has substituted at Minster. He is an Ohio State University graduate with post graduate work at Ohio University.

Sale of a 7.9-acre tract of land at the northwest corner of the Interstate 75-Infirmary Road interchange to Chevron Oil Co., of Louisville, Ky., for approximately $139,000 was disclosed by a deed on file today in the county recorder’s office.

Sidney area resident Kelli Barker has a new vision of life these days, thanks to experimental laser surgery to correct chronic lifelong nearsightedness.
Mrs. Barker could only see shapes of color out of her left eye until about two weeks ago, when she traveled to Columbus to undergo a new procedure called laser keratectomy of “laser sculpturing” of the cornea of that eye. The federal Food and Drug administration (FDA) has approved the procedure at the Ohio University Hospitals Clinic on an experimental basis.
