Petitions, issues approved for November ballot

SIDNEY — The lineup is set for the November General Election.

The Shelby County Board of Elections approved petitions and issues for the Nov. 7 during its meeting Monday morning.

Petitions were approved for candidates seeking a position on either a city or village council. Those approved were:

Sidney City Council

• Incumbent Martha Bixler Milligan, 1521 Port Jefferson Road, Sidney, 1st Ward.

• Incumbent Darryl E. Thurber, 530 N. West Ave., Sidney, 2nd Ward.

• Incumbent Ed Hamaker, 1221 St. Marys Ave., Sidney, 3rd Ward.

• Incumbent Steve Wagner, 702 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, 4th Ward.

One person will be elected for each ward.

Anna Village Council

• Joel M. Kranenerg, 303 Meadowview, Anna.

• Incumbent Cindy Naseman, 402 Ruby Court.

• Incumbent Gary Strasser, 205 S. Second St.

Four seats are up for election for Anna Council. Incumbents Jennifer Shoffner and Richard R. Eshleman are not seeking re-election.

Botkins Village Council

• Incumbent Craig D. Brown, 318 King, Botkins.

• Incumbent Nicholas J. Greve, 301 E. South.

• Incumbent Lance Symonds, 400 Huber, Botkins.

Four seats are up for Botkins Council. Incumbent Steve Heuker’s petition was rejected by the Board of Elections.

Fort Loramie Village Council

• Sam Grassbaugh, 81 S. Main St., Fort Loramie.

• Timothy H. Siegel, 560 Greenback, Fort Loramie.

• Incumbent Ryan L. Simon, 190 Grandview, Fort Loramie.

• Incumbent Charles Wray, 561 Elizabeth, Fort Loramie.

Four seats are up for Fort Loramie Council. Incumbents Ryan Albers and Paul Eilerman are not seeking re-election.

Jackson Center Village Council

• Incumbent James Devine, 208 E. College, Jackson Center.

• Incumbent Leisha R. Elchert, 104 Waterford, Jackson Center.

• Incumbent Jesse C. Fark, 203 Oak, Jackson Center.

• Incumbent Larry D. Wahrer, 104 Island, Jackson Center.

Four seats are up for Jackson Center Council.

Kettlersville Village Council

• Incumbent Karen Berning, 16389 Easy, Kettlersville.

Four seats are up for Kettlersville Council. Incumbents Vickey Greet, Ida Kaminsky and John Shumate didn’t file for re-election. Betty Ike’s petition was rejected by the Board of Elections.

Lockington Village Council

Four seats are up for election. Three petitions — Ashley Branson, Estel Johnson and Amber Lowe — were rejected by the Board of Elections. Johnson and Lowe are current council members. Incumbents Brent Taylor and Tabitha Taylor didn’t file for re-election.

Port Jefferson Village Council

Four seats are up for Port Jefferson Council. No one filed any petitions. Incumbents Loretta Cook, Judy Burris, Krystal Cox and Heather Clark didn’t seek re-election.

Russia Village Council

• Incumbent Terence Daugherty, 106 Oakwood St., Russia, filed for mayor.

• Incumbent John J. Grogean, 315 Westwood, Russia.

• Incumbent Mary Jo High, 110 Highland, Russia.

Four seats along with the mayor’s seat are up for election. Incumbents Ronald Simon and Larry Platfoot didn’t file for re-election.

Trustees, fiscal officers

Two trustees and one fiscal officer (where appropriate) will be elected in the townships.

• Clinton Township: Incumbent Jim Gaier, 18900 Riverside, Sidney, and Incumbent Thomas Kinninger, 2307 S. Vandemark Road, Sidney.

• Cynthian Township: Incumbent Joseph A. Benanzer, 7682 Cecil Road, Sidney, and Incumbent Robert L. Siegel, 2996 Cardo Road, Fort Loramie.

• Dinsmore Township: Tisha Wannemacher, 14435 Lochard Road, Anna, unexpired term for fiscal officer; Incumbent Richard J. Meyer, 11160 Lock Two Road, Botkins, and Incumbent Michael R. Stewart, 15940 Amsterdam Road, Anna.

• Franklin Township: Incumbent Alexander Berner, 13090 County Road 25A, Anna, Michael Carity, 12890 Sidney Freyburg Road, Anna, and Alan Michael, 13177 Ailes Road, Anna.

• Green Township: Joseph Eugene Everett, 20357 Sidney Plattsville road, Sidney, and Mack A. Knupp, 17707 McCloskey School Road, Sidney, both running for the unexpired term for the fiscal officer; Incumbent Randy R. Bensman, 2219 Tawawa Maplewood Road, Sidney, and Incumbent Jeffrey M. Brautigam, 18259 Maloney Road, Sidney.

• Jackson Township: Incumbent John L. Mann, 17266 Wones Road, Jackson Center; Gary Metz, 13701 Strong Road, Mapelwood, Jason T. Platfoot, 18450 Southland Road, Wapakoneta, and Incumbent Robert Zorn, 20481 Linker Road, Jackson Center.

• Loramie Township: Incumbent Chad Delaet, 399 Redmond, Russia, and Incumbent Scott Phlipot, 2340 Russia Houston Road, Russia.

• Orange Township: Incumbent Dennis J. Martin, 2300 Bulle Road, Sidney, and Incumbent Bart Rogers, 3700 S. County Road 25A, Sidney.

• McLean Township: Incumbent Gregory S. Ruhenkamp, 72 S. Main, Fort Loramie, and Incumbent Robert H. Hoying, 181 Grandvieeew Drive, Fort Loramie.

• Perry Township: Frederick E. Favors, 6988 Jackson Road, Sidney, Incumbent Mark D. Henman, 19110 Dingman Slagle Road, Sidney, Daniel J. Wooddell, 19500 Pence Road, Maplewood.

• Salem Township: Incumbent Richard A. Herrick, 10230 Pasco Road, Sidney, and Incumbent Scott C. Platfoot, 21111 LeFevre, Maplewood.

• Turtle Creek Township: Incumbent Douglas E. Ike, 8450 Smalley Road, and Incumbent Jonathan J. Siegrist, 10509 Patterson Halpin Road, Sidney.

• Van Buren Township: Incumbent David J. Berning, 12925 McCartyville Road, Anna, and Incumbent David Kettleer, 9151 State Route 274, Anna.

• Washington Township: Richard Feight, 9101 Lockington Dam, Piqua; Incumbent Theodore H. Larger, 1204 Aiken Road, Piqua, and Incumbent Randy Schwable, 9280 Fessler Buxton, Piqua.

Boards of Education

• Sidney City Schools, two to be elected: Chad Gessler, 1359 E. Hoewisher, Sidney, Linda S. Meininger, 1239 Sherwood, Sidney, and Jason Schaffner, 2618 Spearhead, Sidney. Incumbents Bill Ankney and Paul Heins didn’t seek re-election.

• Anna Local Schools, three to be elected: Mike Ambos, 9845 Thompson Schiff, Sidney, Incumbent Jason D. Fogt, 503 E. North St., Anna, Incumbent Matthew Murray, 13345 Sycamore, Anna, and Timothy Denman Stroh, 13160 Sycamore, Anna. Incumbent Dale Bensman didn’t seek re-election.

• Botkins Local Schools, three to be elected: Scott Bayless, 212 E. Walnut, Botkins, Incumbent Neil Boerger, 17975 Hardin Wapakoneta Road, Botkins, and Jason Wendel, 108 Karen, Botkins. Incumbent Rebecca Hoelscher didn’t seek re-election.

• Fairlawn Local Schools, three to be elected: Hope Abke, 8525 Johnston Slagle Road, Sidney, Incumbent Andrew Brautigam, 6640 Pasco Montra, Sidney, Incumbent Rita Gilfillen, 20900 State Route 706, Sidney, and Shelly Ginter, 9741 Baker Road, Sidney. Incumbent Anthony Bensman didn’t seek re-election.

• Fort Loramie Local Schools, two to be elected: Bradley John Rethman, 4877 State Route 705, Fort Loramie, and Michael Norbert Siegel, 49 Greenback, Fort Loramie. Incumbents James Maurer and Anthony Meyer didn’t seek re-election.

• Hardin-Houston Local Schools, Incumbent Bill Clark, 7311 Hughes Road, Houston, Barri J. Grandey, 8688 Wright Puthoff, Sidney, Christine Helman, 10277 W. Mason, Sidney, and Incumbent Stephen Mowery, 7101 Wright Puthoff Road, Sidney. Incumbent Wesley Maier is not seeking re-election.

• Jackson Center Local Schools, two to be elected: Incumbent Kristine Mullenhour, 17275 Montra Road, Anna, and Incumbent Dana Ware, 20000 Botkins Road, Jackson Center.

• Russia Local Schools, three to be elected: Incumbent Joshua D. Francis, 850 Foxtail Drive, Russia, Maria A. Hoehne, 865 Redmond, Russia, and Incumbent Chelsea Hoying, 4901 Russia Road, Russia. Incumbent Deidre Kearns didn’t seek re-election.

Issues

The following issues have been placed on the ballot:

• Village of Port Jefferson: 3-year, 1 mill tax renewal for payment of firefighting companies.

• Village of Lockington: 5-year, 2.7 mill tax renewal for current operating expenses.

• Green Township: 5-year, .8 mill tax renewal and .2 mill new tax increase for ambulance and emergency medical services.

• Loramie Township, Russia Fire District: 5-year 1.10 mill tax renewal and .64 mill tax increase for Loramie Township, Russia Fire District, to provide and maintain apparatus, appliances, buildings or sites, or sources of water supply or payment of permanent, part-time or volunteer firefighters.

• Van Buren Township: 5-year, .3 mill tax renewal for ambulance service and emergency medical service.

• Washington Township: 5-year, .6 mill tax renewal for current operating expenses.

• Washington Township (excluding village of Lockington): 5-year, 2 mill tax renewal for maintaining and improving all township roads.

• Fairlawn Local School District: 5-year, 2.11 mill tax levy renewal for the purpose of emergency requirements.

• Loramie Fire District: 3-year 1.5 mill tax renewal to provide and maintain apparatus, appliances, buildings or sites, or sources of water supply or establishment and maintenance of lines of fire alarm telegraph, or payment of permanent, part-time or volunteer firefighters.

• Houston Joint Ambulance District: 5-year, .4 mill tax renewal to provide operating and maintaining emergency and rescue equipment apparatus, appliances, buildings or sites.
