SIDNEY — Sidney Police are investigating multiple overdoses which occurred Sunday night.

According to Detective Jerry Tangeman, the department received a call at 10:17 p.m. Sunday night that two subjects had been admitted at Wilson Health in an overdose status. They had been dropped off at the hospital.

Shortly after officers arrived at the hospital, a second overdose incident was discovered in the parking lot of Wilson Health. Three people were found laying in the parking lot near a vehicle, said Tangeman.

Four of the victims were treated and released, he said. The fifth person is in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.

Tangeman said the person in critical condition appears to be the driver of the vehicle of the second group of people found in the parking lot.

“It is believed that the drugs used by the two groups was from the same source,” said Tangeman. “It is believed that the five persons involved are acquaintances, however the two groups were not together during the incidents.”

Tangeman said the officers didn’t administer Narcan to any of the victims. Two of the individuals who were found laying in the parking lot were not breathing when they were discovered.

No charges have been filed in the incident, which remains under investigation. No names have been released, said Tangeman, because no charges have been filed against any individual involved in the case.
