Sidney tree sale yields 299 trees sold

SIDNEY — The Sidney Tree Board announced the city sold 299 trees from Sidney’s tree sale.

During its recent meeting Sidney Tree Board discussed the upcoming tree sale distribution day, Saturday, Oct. 28. It was reported that the 299 trees sold were from 68 orders. Members also discussed the traffic flow route and time the trees will be picked up on Saturday.

The board also approved the finalized street tree list the during the meeting. They had been working to update The Urban Forestry brochure that contains the list for several months. Joyce Reier, public works administrator/ISA certified arborist, said she hopes to have the updated brochure completed and on the city’s website by the end of November.

Board Chairperson Ann Asher introduced Master Gardener and Horticulturalist Katerina Smith to the board. She recently moved back to Sidney from California and expressed interest in volunteering to help the tree board.

In other business, the board discussed the list of hazardous trees that need to be removed by property owners. Several trees remain on the list. Property owners will be receiving a second letter of notification.
