SIDNEY — A Sidney man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

According to the Piqua Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, Paul Newman, 88, of Sidney, was transported to Wilson Health by Sidney Fire and Rescue. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

At approximately 2:35 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, Newman was traveling southbound on Wilkinson Avenue in a 2007 Ford Taurus. He failed to yield from a stop sign and was struck by a 2005 Dodge Ram, driven by David Shoup, 66, of Brandford, who was southbound on West Court Street (state Route 47).

Shoup suffered minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

The Sidney Police department, Sidney Fire Department and Sidney medics all responded to the scene. The vehicles were removed by Meyer’s Towing and Wrecker’s Towing.

One lane in each direction of West Court Street was closed during the Patrol’s investigation and was the only traffic disruption.

The crash remains under investigation.
