SIDNEY — Two compassionate and dedicated Shelby County United Way Board of Directors — Nancy Stiefel and Duane Gaier — will be completing their terms at the end of December, said Executive Director Scott Barr.

“We are losing two leaders from our board that during their tenure helped drive the organization forward with new funded programs and partners,” said Barr.

During their terms, they provided oversight of partner agencies, chaired the entire allocation process, coordinated all events and activities, and served on the executive committee.

“I appreciate the significant time and talents Nancy and Duane provided the United Way during their term and thank them for the support they provided to the community,” said Barr

Stiefel, director of Early Intervention, Shelby County Board of DD and director of Wilma Valentine Child Care, chaired the Events and Activities Committee responsible for Campaign Kickoff, Finale and all public events. She was a member of the Caring for People in Crisis Allocation Committee where she served all six years. She is a past division leader of the Annual Campaign serving the Non-Profit Division.

Gaier, city of Sidney Parks director, served on the executive committee during his tenure on the board. He was immediate past president in 2016, board president in 2015, 1st vice president in 2014, and 2nd vice president is 2013. He chaired the Allocation Committees, including serving as the Caring for People in Crisis and Enriching the Lives of Seniors Allocation Teams. He is a past co-division leader of the Annual Campaign serving the Public Employees Division.
