Police seek man who fled after pursuit

SIDNEY — A man who fled on foot after a high speed pursuit is sought by Sidney Police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP).

According to a press release from Sidney Police Capt. Bill Shoemaker, at approximately 11:38 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 18, the OSP called in a pursuit on Interstate 75 south, north of Botkins. The suspect exited I-75 in Botkins and headed south on County Road 25A, where the OSP ended the pursuit.

The suspect entered Sidney at a high rate of speed, estimated at over 80 mph. When Sidney Police activated emergency lights, the suspect fled again. The driver fled southbound on County Road 25A until reaching downtown. Police then deployed stop sticks and vehicle’s driver’s side front tire was struck. The suspect continued to flee until he crashed on Fair Road at Miami Conservancy Road. The driver then fled on foot. Sidney Police and the OSP searched the area for the driver, but no arrest has been made at the time of the news release.

Officers have a suspect and an investigation continues.
