RUSSIA — Dennis and Joan Monnin, of Russia, will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Saturday, Dec. 4, with a Mass at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a small family gathering.
Dennis and the former Joan Clemmons were married on Dec. 4, 1971, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Newport. The Rev. Paul Ratterman officiated the ceremony. Witnesses to the wedding were matron of honor Freda Green, bridesmaids Marilyn Townsend, Virginia Jestice, Beverly Thomas, Jonetta Matheson Davis, flower girl Brenda Coulson, best man Roger Monnin, groomsmen Ronald Monnin, Doug Barhorst, Ronald Thomas, Frank Shafer and Bill Muhlenkamp.
The couple met at the Crossroads Lanes bowling alley in Vandalia, where Dennis bartended.
Dennis and Joan are the parents of Heather and Tim Wenrick, of Russia, and Aaron and Janel Monnin, of Russia. They are the grandparents of Morgan and Mackenzie Wenrick, and Brayden, Landon and Cain Monnin.
Dennis is the son of the late Wilfred and Irene Monnin, of Russia. He is the brother of Beverly Thomas, of Troy, the late Roger Monnin and the late Ronald Monnin.
Joan is the daughter of the late Alson and Thelma Clemmons, of Dayton. She is the sister of Virginia Jestice, of Englewood, the late Freda Green, the late Marilyn Townsend, and the late Wayne Clemmons.
Dennis is retired from Midmark Corporation where he was a district sales manager for the medical division. He is currently the junior varsity basketball coach at Russia High School. He is a sports enthusiast who is a life-long Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals and Russia Raiders fan. He enjoys hunting and attending the sporting events of his grandchildren.
Joan is retired from Clopay Corporation. She enjoys reading, attending the Gathering Place in Russia, spending time with family and attending the sporting events of her grandchildren.
They are members of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, in Newport.
