DAYTON — Midmark Corp., a leading provider of medical, dental and veterinary equipment and technologies, recently donated 10 pet containment units to Austin Pets Alive! to assist in animal rescue efforts after the devastation left by Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas.

The focus in Houston by Austin Pets Alive! was to aid in the rescue of cats and dogs affected by the hurricane before and after the disastrous flooding. Search and rescue teams, as well as good Samaritans, took animals to the Austin Pets Alive! rescue/triage command center staged in Katy, Texas. Animals were then examined, scanned for microchips and labeled accordingly as stray animals or animals previously in a shelter, then transported to Austin or a temporary shelter in Houston. To date, the organization has helped to rescue more than 2,500 pets, many in need of medical attention.

Midmark was contacted by Austin Pets Alive! about the need for cages specifically for its cat intensive care unit. A leading provider of animal health solutions, Midmark was able to donate 10 stainless steel cagesm as well as a cat condo unit from its Carthage, Missouri, production facility. The units arrived at the Austin facility and will be used to accommodate cats being medically treated and cared for until they are available for adoption. The cat condo unit will provide spacious storage for food, litter, litter pans and other items.

“We cannot express our gratitude for the continued support from the APA! community and businesses like Midmark,” siaid Logan Anderson, development associate at Austin Pets Alive!. “Their support has aided in our ability to continue much needed medical assistance for the influx of animals rescued from the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.”
