Sheriff’s log

TUESDAY

-2:53 p.m.: burglary in progress. Deputies were dispatched to the 1300 block of Logan Court in Clinton Township on the report people were going into a home when the home owners were not there.

-1:47 p.m.: identity theft. Deputies were dispatched to 10767 Millcreek Road in Washington Township on a report of a possible identity theft.

-9 a.m. to 12:27 p.m.: theft. Deputies took a two theft reports at the Sidney High School on Campbell Road.

MONDAY

-10:49 a.m.: suspicious car. Deputies responded to the 8300 block of Hoying Road in Turtle Creek Township on the report a female driving a silver van was taking pictures of outbuildings at the location.

-10:04 a.m.: tree down. Deputies responded to 17371 State Route 47 in Salem Township on the report a tree fell down on the side of the house.

-9:34 a.m.: disorderly conduct. A 17-year-old male was charged with disorderly conduct and juvenile delinquency after an incident in which he pushed another student onto the ground at the Sidney Alternative School on Fair Road. According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office’s report, the juvenile was also suspended, per school policy.

SUNDAY

-4:19 p.m.: theft. Deputies took a report of the theft of a wallet from the lobby of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on Gearhart Road.

-3:07 p.m.: shooting. Deputies responded to 3455 Dorsey Hageman Road on the report neighbors were shooting toward the property.

The deputy spoke with residents at 3332 Leatherwood Creek Drive to inquire if they were shooting guns earlier in the day. Two men at the residence said they had been, but were shooting at a tree in the back yard. The men were told by the deputy that, although the tree wasn’t directly toward the property on Dorsey Hageman Road, they needed to have a sufficient back stop. They were also advised it would be best to move further to the west to avoid further issues. The men agreed to move further west and create a sufficient back stop in the future.

TUESDAY

-7:46 a.m.: property damage crash. Jackson Center Police was dispatched to Plastipak on state Route 65 in Jackson Township on the report of a crash.

Crashes

Scott A. Lamma, 45, 108 Overland Drive, was cited with reckless operation after a one-vehicle crash on Saturday at 5:10 p.m.

Lamma was traveling southbound on Shroyer Road and after stopping at the intersection at state Route 65, he did a burnout and lost control of his 2002 yellow Chevrolet Corvette and struck a DP&L utility pole head-on on the west side of state Route 65.

• Gregory W. Smith, 55, of Urbana, was cited with failure to yield after a two-vehicle crash on Thursday at 9:37 p.m.

Smith was traveling eastbound on state Route 47 when he turned north on Elm Street in front of the westbound vehicle on state Route 47 driven by Karen D. Gagermeier, 59,1724 State Route 29 East, causing Gagermeier to strike Smith’s vehicle at an angle.

Smith told the responding deputy he thought when Gagermeier turned on her turn signal near the intersection of state Route 47 and Elm Street, she intended to turn south onto Elm Street, so he made the left turn onto Elm Street.

Fire, rescue

MONDAY

-11:02 a.m.: fire. Rosewood Fire Department responded to the 1000 block of Tawawa Maplewood Road in Green Township.

-7:46 a.m.: medical. Anna Rescue and Police responded to a call in the 100 block of Diamond Drive in Anna.

-4:51 a.m.: fire. Jackson Center Fire Department responded to Airstream on West Pike Street in Jackson Township.
