ST. MARYS — A man and teenage girl were killed late Sunday in a motorcycle crash.

Andrew Makley, 21, of New Bremen, and his passenger, Jessica Ginter, 15, of St. Marys, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Auglaize County Coroner Thomas Freytag, according to the Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 10:25 p.m. Sunday on state Route 364, south of Greenville Road. Makley was driving the motorcycle when he traveled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole, the state patrol reported.

Makley and Ginter were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither was wearing a helmet, according to the state patrol.

The motorcycle was severely damaged, the patrol reported.

Troopers believe Makley was traveling at a high rate of speed. It’s unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, the patrol reported. The crash remains under investigation.
