Sheriff’s log

THURSDAY

-12:42 p.m.: property damage crash. Deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of state Route 66 in Loramie Township on the report of a two-vehicle crash.

-9:46 a.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies were dispatched to Preferred Printing Company on Michigan Street in Turtle Creek Township on the report of harassment and a disturbance at the business.

-6:43 a.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies were dispatched to 10987 Commanche Drive in Washington Township to investigate a complaint someone was tearing up the residence.

TUESDAY

-9:30 p.m.: making false alarms. Mark Wita, 19, 217 E. Main St., Port Jefferson, was arrested for making false alarms and criminal trespass after deputies investigated a report of a burglary in progress at the Community Center in the Village of Port Jefferson.

When the responding deputy arrived on scene, he observed a male run from behind the Community Center wearing clothes as was described in the report. When the male was apprehended, he identified himself as the person who reported of the crime. According to the Sheriff’s report, Wita told the deputy he wanted to go to jail because he did not want to go home. After futher investigation it was determined Wita had called 911 and made the report.

THURSDAY

-11:43 a.m.: theft. Botkins Police responded to Upper Cervical Health Centers of America on West State Street in Botkins on the report of an identity theft.

WEDNESDAY

-8:51 p.m.: investigate complaint. Jackson Center Police responded to 120 Redbud Circle to investigate a complaint about a suspicious male.

Crashes

Thomas Schafer was cited with failure to control after a crash on Wednesday at 6:16 p.m.

Schafer was traveling eastbound on Schlater Road when he failed to negotiate a left hand curve at the intersection of Gehret Road and went off the right side of the roadway, struck a fence post and then the ditch.

Ten to 15 fence posts were broken off at the base.

• No one was cited after a crash on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

Judith Elson, 69, 640 Maxwell Place, Sidney, was traveling westbound on Mason Road and after the intersection of North Kuther Road slowed down and went left of center and side swiped the vehicle driven by Kylie Hirschfeld, 26, 30 S. Main St., Fort Loramie, that was attempting to pass Elson. Hirschfeld then went into the ditch in front of 3131 Mason Road.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

THURSDAY

-11:36 a.m.: medical. Anna Rescue responded to the 12500 block of Meranda Road in Franklin Township.

-10:43 a.m.: medical. Anna Rescue and Jackson Center Police responded to the 600 block of Jackson Street in Jackson Township.

-9:22 a.m.: medical. Van Buren Township Fire Department and Minster Life Squad responded to the 13100 block of Luthman Road in Van Buren Township.

-5:45 a.m.: fire. Botkins Fire Department responded to Agrana Fruits US on County Road 25A in Dinsmore Township on a fire alarm set off by a smoke detector.

-1:32 a.m.: fire. Russia Fire Department responded to Darke County on the report of a cabin fire.

WEDNESDAY

-10:59 p.m.: medical. Anna Rescue Police responded to the 200 block of South Linden Avenue in Franklin Township.
