NK board sets public hearing

NEW KNOXVILLE — New Knoxville Local Schools will have a public hearing, March 28, at 7 p.m., in the school’s media center, to get input from communitiy members concerning the planning of the use of federal IDEA funds, which support the education of handicapped students.

The announcement was made during the board of education’s regular meeting, Feb. 22.

The board approved the hiring of Tim Niekamp as a substitute teacher, Ryan Tinnerman as assistant varsity baseball coach, Nick Schroer as volunteer assistant varsity baseball coach and Kris Ambos as varsity soccer coach.

In other action, the board:

• Approved an out-of-state field trip for the senior class to Indianapolis, on April 22.

• Approved an out-of-state field trip for the eighth grade class to Washington, D.C., May 8-13.

• Approved the 2016-2017 school calendar.

• Accepted a donation by the Artist’s Touch of $100 of supplies for the art program.
