Scholarship deadline approaching

SIDNEY — The March 15 deadline is approaching for the 2016 Community Foundation of Shelby County scholarship application. The online application is the gateway to 110 local scholarships totaling more than $160,000 in one-time and renewable awards.

Some scholarships are for students graduating from a defined high school and others are county wide. Certain scholarships are for students with a specific major or who meet other qualifying factors. As questions are answered, the application will present scholarship information regarding awards for which the student may be eligible. The form will also filter out scholarships for which a student does not qualify.

In addition to completing the online form, students must attach their transcript, letters of recommendation and, in some cases, a page showing the EFC number from a completed FAFSA (financial form). Students are encouraged to begin the application early.

The Community Foundation’s website has information and tips on a Frequently Asked Questions page to assist students completing the form.
