Lehman teachers honored at banquet

KETTERING — Educators from area Catholic schools were honored at the Miami Valley Teacher Recognition Banquet held on May 3 at the Presidential Banquet Center in Kettering. The 27th annual gala evening celebrated the contributions of teachers in the Catholic schools of the Dayton and greater Miami Valley region of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

Teachers celebrating milestones of 5 years to 40+ years were recognized. Several Innovative Teaching Grants were also awarded.

Among those honored in 2016 were two faculty members from Lehman Catholic High School in Sidney: Richard Roll, for 10 years of service, and Henry Cordonnier, for 35 years of service.

Roll serves as the school’s athletic director and teaches weight lifting and conditioning as well as chairing the Physical Education and Health Department. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical and Industrial Education from Wilmington College. Roll is also the head football coach of the Cavaliers. Before coming to Lehman, Roll taught for 30 years at Plymouth High School.

Cordonnier teaches religion and health classes. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Miami University with majors in Biology and Earth Science. He is also certified to teach driver’s education.

Entertainment for this year’s banquet was provided by the Lehman Limelighters Show Choir, under the direction of Betsy Moorman.
