SIDNEY — The Shelby County Democrat Women have announced that they have awarded Mariah Ann Bowser-Jones a $500 scholarship.

Bowser-Jones, daughter of Melissa Bowser, is a graduate of Sidney High School and attends the University of Toledo, where she studies speech language pathology in the College of Health Sciences.

While in high school, Bowser-Jones was active in sports, student government and community volunteering. At the University of Toledo, she volunteers as a tutor in the Sunbridge school system during the academic year.

To be eligible to apply for the Shelby County Democrat Women Scholarship, a student must be a graduate of a Shelby County school and must have successfully completed the first year of college. There are no political preference questions on the application.
